Nathan Bishop timeline

Tom Schmeling posted a timeline of Nathan Bishop Middle School construction milestones on the ESPEC blog - check it out. Tom reports that the school department might not get the building until mid-August 2009, but overall, it's looking good that the renovation will happen in time for the building to open for the 2009-10 school year.

I can report from the district's Nathan Bishop Steering Committee that plans proceed for hiring a principal who will, when hired soon, be the lead for the work that needs to be done to put the new Nathan Bishop Middle School plans into reality.

It's really happening!

How to Visit Elementary Schools on Kidoinfo

Hi! I've posted again at kidoinfo.com about what to do and think about when you're visiting schools. It's useful now, when many parents are taking first or second (or third or fourth!) looks to get ready for the ongoing school registration process. The post is here, and if any of you have any addition thoughts, comment there so other parents can get the most out of school visits.

School registration event at Gregorian 3/6, and more!

On Thursday, March 6 from 9:15 - 10:30 am the Vartan Gregorian Elementary School PTO is sponsoring a Question and Answer Session on School Registration led by Magaly Sanchez, Facilitator, Student Registration and Assignment Center for the Providence Public Schools District. A tour of the school and visits to Kindergarten classrooms will follow.

The Q & A session will take place at the library at Vartan Gregorian Elementary School, 455 Wickenden St., Providence. Please send any inquiries to Karina Wood, karinawood@cox.net.

As well, the Dr. Martin Luther King Elementary School invites prospective parents to Math & Science Night, Wednesday, March 5, 5:00-7:00pm. This event provides fun, hands-on activities that demonstrate MLK's math curriculum. It's a great time to meet teachers and see learning in action.
